For a deserving Raider that has contributed to the spirit and life within Charlottetown Rural High School (ie: involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership, overall interest in making a difference, kick started a fundraising initiative, etc.).

Applications can be found at Student Services or at Remarkable Raider Award.

Charlottetown Rural High School Prizes

Click on the following names for applications or pick one up at Student Services.  All completed applications are to be returned to Student Services by Friday, May 27 at 3:30 pm.

Allan Godfrey Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is for a deserving grade 12 student who is a member of one of the girls’ soccer teams and who plans to continue her education in the field of Biology or Environmental Science.

Charlottetown Y’s Men
This bursary will be available to a student who is pursuing a career working with children and/or youth.

Corey Stevenson Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is available to a student who has not received any other major scholarship. The student must demonstrate financial need, demonstrate an appreciation for life, and demonstrate good academic effort. This student also must be planning to attend a post secondary institution (college or university).

Dr David McKenna Memorial Award
This award will be awarded to a student with a sound academic record and who is pursuing post-secondary study in Science. The student must be a resident of Stratford.

Frank J Costello
This scholarship will be awarded to a male student who best demonstrates leadership in school and community.

HELEN HERON SCHOLARSHIP
The student must be an honours student from Fort Augustus, Webster’s Corner, Glenfinnan, or Johnstons River area entering a post-secondary institute.

Hillsborough Rotary Club
Awarded to a student who demonstrates leadership and involvement in school activities.

RBC Award
This scholarship is for a graduating student pursuing a post-secondary business degree or an environmental studies degree that has academic merit and/or financial need.

Stratford Auto Prize
Awarded to a student that has shown aptitude and desire to work in the automotive technology program and has been accepted into a post-secondary automotive program. Please attach a copy of your resume and a copy of your acceptance letter to a post-secondary institution for automotive technology

Stratford Lions Bursary
This award will be available to a graduating student who is a resident of Crossroads Lions Club area. The student must show academic achievement and community and/or school involvement.

Stratford Mayflower Senior Club Bursaries
Awarded to one male and one female student from Stratford who plans to pursue post-secondary study. Student should have a strong academic record, show qualities of honesty, trustworthiness and have good moral values.

Stephanie Grady Memorial Scholarship
Stephanie (Doyle) Grady was a former rural graduate who lost her life to a rare form of cancer in 2014. Her family has set up a $750.00 scholarship in her memory. Criteria to apply includes: have a strong academic performance, be pursuing post secondary studies and be recognized as being kind-hearted, well-rounded, courageous, resilient and inspirational. Applications are available in Student Services. Completed applications, including a letter of acceptance to a post-secondary institution, are to be returned to Student Services by the deadline of May 27th, 2016.

Town of Stratford Community Bursary
Awarded to a graduating student from the Stratford area who has a sound academic record and community involvement.

Town of Stratford Sustainability Bursary
Awarded to a student with a sound academic record. Involved in one or more areas of sustainability; social, culture, environment, economy and governance.

TR and Chandra Sahajpal
Awarded to a student accepted to UPEI and has demonstrated excellence in academics and athletics.

Warren A Burns
Awarded to a graduating female student who best demonstrates leadership in school and community.

PEI Industrial Technology Teachers’ Association Bursary

Applications are now available online at PEI Technology Teachers Bursary. Criteria includes: students must be planning on pursuing a career related skill and has taken a minimum of three skilled trade courses (automotive, carpentry and welding).

Deadline is June 20, 2016.

Louise MacMillan Memorial Scholarship

Applications for the Louise MacMillan Memorial Scholarship are now available online at Memorial Scholarship.  Applicant must: reside on Prince Edward Island and have a relative in Women’s Institute, be enrolled in any program of choice, in any form of post-secondary institution, but must be enrolled as a full-time student for a minimum of one school year or 28 weeks.  Applications will be judged on volunteer work done to enhance community life and leadership skills.

Deadline is May 31, 2016.

 

PEI Women’s Institute Education Scholarship

Applications for the PEI Women’s Institute Education scholarship are now available online at WI Scholarship.  This scholarship is open to students will be enrolled in any post-secondary institution for a minimum of one school year or 28 weeks. The applicant’s mother, grandmother or guardian must be a PEIWI member.  Applicants will be judged based on self-motivation, community spirit and need.

Deadline is May 31, 2016.

Gordon Doughart Memorial Award Fund

Applications and detailed criteria for this award are now available online at Gordon Doughart Memorial.   Applicants must be registered in Grade 12 in a Prince Edward Island high school with plans to enter a program at Holland College in the autumn of 2016, the applicant or a member of his/her immediate family will have been directly impacted by cancer. Applications are also welcomed from students who have not been directly impacted by cancer but who have provided significant volunteer service with local or provincial fundraising initiatives to support cancer research or to benefit a cancer victim.

Arthur & Theresa MacDonald Scholarship

Applications are now available online at MacDonald Scholarship. Interested students must meet the following criteria: has been accepted to an accredited Canadian post secondary institution, must demonstrate effort and dedication in their studies, demonstrate financial hardship, must not be a recipient of a major scholarship and must have satisfactory academic performance.

Stephen Turner Memorial Scholarship

Applications are now available online at Stephen Turner Memorial.  Criteria includes: must be attending Holland College, UPEI or College Acadie I.P.E. in the fall of 2016 and be active in the areas of community involvement, volunteer work or political involvement.

Orin Carver Scholarship Program

Applications for the Orin Carver Scholarship are now available online at
Orin Carver. Criteria includes: graduating from a PEI high school and intends to further their full time studies at Holland College or UPEI, exhibit a level of excellence and leadership in athletics, arts fields or in community service or a combination thereof and have achieved an overall average of 75% with no individual subject mark less then 70%.

NOREEN & GEORGE CORRIGAN SCHOLARSHIP (Single mother)

Applications for the Noreen & George Corrigan scholarship are now available online at Corrigan Scholarship.  This scholarship was created to assist single mothers planning to attend a post secondary institution in the fall of 2016.

Deadline to apply is May 31, 2016.

 

NOREEN & GEORGE CORRIGAN SCHOLARSHIP (Learning Disability)

Applications for the Noreen & George Corrigan (LD) scholarship are now available online at LD Scholarship. Criteria includes: minimum of 18 years of age, planning to attend an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution, has a documented learning disability and demonstrate financial need. The value of this scholarship is $1000.

Deadline to apply is May 31, 2016.

 

David “Eli” MacEachern Award
Applications for the David “Eli” MacEachern Award are now available at Student Services. Applicants must state in a personal essay how you meet the following criteria: dedication to excellence in sport during high school years, competed with sportsmanship, demonstrates a passion for life, learning and excellence and continuing education and development in chosen field of sport. Also, letter(s) of support from someone who is aware of the stated criteria would be of benefit. This scholarship is limited to Charlottetown residents only.

Deadline is May 27, 2016.

 

Education Award for Young Brain Tumour Survivors
Applications for the Education Award for Young Brain Tumour Survivors are now available online at Youth Education Award. Criteria includes: student must be a brain tumour survivor, a Canadian citizen (or landed immigrant), and planning to enter into a post-secondary institution in the fall of 2016.

Deadline is May 20, 2016.

PEI Mutual Scholarship
Applications for the PEI Mutual Scholarship are now available at Student Services. Four students from Charlottetown Rural will be awarded this $750 scholarship. Criteria includes: academic performance, financial need and planning to enter into a post-secondary institution in the fall of 2016.

Completed applications, plus a graduation picture (wallet size), must be returned to Student Services by May 16, 2016.

 

Holland College Scholarships

Holland College scholarships are now available online at HC Awards.  Please take note of  the criteria for each scholarship, as well some scholarships are for specific programs.  The following links will be needed for each scholarship: application form, resumé outline, reference letter form and additional information- if needed.

Deadlines for Holland College Awards are May 15, 2016.

 

Official Languages Study Fellowship
Applications and complete criteria can be found online at French Language Fellowship. This scholarship is open to grade 12 students planning to enroll into a program of study which has a minimum of 80% French instruction component.

Completed applications must be passed into Student Services by May 15, 2016.

 

Charlottetown Legion Branch #1 Bursary
Applications for the Charlottetown Legion Branch No. 1 Bursary are now available at online at Charlottetown Legion. Criteria includes: planning to attend a post secondary institution in the fall of 2016, demonstrate financial need, live in the greater Charlottetown area and be a child, grandchild, great grandchild of a veteran

Hockey PEI Scholastic Award
Applications for the Hockey PEI Scholastic Award are now available online at Hockey PEI. Criteria includes: a deserving player or official entering university/college in the fall of 2016, displays a high degree of tenacity and dedication to his/her team combined with scholastic excellence.

The Jim Stirling Scholarship Program Award
Applications for The Jim Stirling Scholarship Award are now available online Jim Stirling Award. Criteria includes: a hockey participant (player, official, etc) entering university/college in the fall of 2016 that displays a high degree of tenacity and dedication to his/her team/position combined with scholastic excellence.

Deadline is May 13, 2016.

 

Sport PEI Scholarship
Applications are now available online at Sport PEI. Criteria includes: graduating from high school, excelled in high school or provincial sports during your grade 12 year, demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities through volunteerism and sport, maintained a strong academic standing and will be entering 1st year at a post secondary institution in the fall of 2016.

Deadline is May 12, 2016.

Credit Union Scholarship

These applications are now available at Credit Union.  Criteria includes: applicant, parent(s), or legal guardian must be an active member of a credit union on Prince Edward Island, must be a full-time Grade 12 student during the 2015-2016 academic school year and must be planning to attend a recognized University or College for the 2016-2017 school year.

Deadline is May 8, 2016.

Saint Dunstan’s University Board of Governor’s High School Award

Applications can be found online at SDU High School Awards.  Criteria include that students be in good academic standing (can get accepted into the post secondary institution that they wish to attend) and who have demonstrated ability in citizenship, leadership and service to their community, school and church.  Two of these awards will be presented to two Charlottetown Rural students.

The Wessex Scholarship

Application are available online at Wessex Scholarship.  The criteria for this scholarship includes:planning to enter into a post-secondary health care degree level program at an Atlantic Canadian institution, involved in community service and has a minimum average of 80%.

Friends of Confederation Centre of the Arts Scholarship

Applications for the Arts’ Scholarship are now available online at Arts Scholarship. This award is for Prince Edward Island high school graduating students who will be pursuing full time post secondary studies in applicable arts.

Safety Matters Award

Applications are now available online at WCB Safey Matters Award.   This awarded will be presented to a graduating high school student that has demonstrated an understanding of occupational health and safety principles, and has taken the initiative to apply them in school or in a workplace.

Dr. Barry Ling Award
Applications are now available at Student Services. Criteria for this award includes: applicant must be Boys & Girls Club of Prince Edward Island Alumni or member, must be attending their first year of a post-secondary education program. Preference will be given to members who have excelled in the area of community support of the Boys & Girl Club through volunteering or fund raising efforts.

Deadline is April 30, 2016.

 

PEI Command- Royal Canadian Legion Bursary
The Royal Canadian Legion Bursary (PEI Command) application is now available at Student Services. Criteria includes: grade 12 student has a parent, grandparent or great-grand parent is/was a veteran, will be attending a university or college in the fall of 2016, financial need and a sound academic record.

Deadline is April 30, 2016.

 

The Matthew Jelley Entrance to Business and Tourism Scholarship
Applications are now available at Student Services. This scholarship is open to students planning to enroll into a recognized tourism or business program at a college or university on PEI, has previous work experience in the tourism and/or business entrepreneurial pursuit and an average of 75% during the last year of school.

Applications must be received by April 30, 2016.

 

Assumption Foundation Scholarship
Applications for the Assumption Foundation Scholarship are now available online at Assumption Foundation. Criteria includes: minimum overall average of 70%, financial need, planning to attend a post-secondary institution in September, 2016.

Michael Miller Memorial Scholarship
Criteria includes: graduating student that has, through their dedication and leadership, been instrumental to their school’s SADD or SmartRisk program by bringing about positive changes in social awareness and attitudes toward drinking, drugs and driving.

J. Jarvis Memorial Scholarship
Criteria includes: graduating student who plans to pursue a post-secondary program of studies in Christian education.

Deadline for each scholarship is April 29, 2016.

 

Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, Inc. Scholarship

Applications for the Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, Inc. Scholarship are now available online at Solve Your Debts. This scholarship is open to residents of Atlantic Canada planning on attending a post-secondary institution (college or university) in the fall of 2016

PEI Fishermen’s Association Member Scholarship

Applications are now available online at PEIFA. This scholarship is open to all students that are: related to a member of the PEI Fishermen’s Association, graduating from a PEI high school in June of 2016 and be accepted as a first year student into an accredited post-secondary institution for the fall of 2016.

Saint Dunstan’s Scholarship

Applications for the Saint Dunstan Scholarship are now available online at SDU Scholarship.  The Saint Dunstan Scholarship is available to graduating high school students who plan to attend UPEI, have obtained an overall average of 85% in their last two years of high school and demonstrate an active involvement in their church.
